Carrie Prejean claims she was stripped off her Miss California title because she didn’t accept gay marriage during the Miss USA pageant back in April 19.
“It’s just because of my answer,” the crownless beauty queen said to Billy Bush Wednesday night. The former Miss California made a sensation during the Miss USA pageant when she said that marriage was “between a man and a woman,” as an answer to blogger Perez Hilton’s question.
“None of this would be happening right now if I just said, Yeah, gays should get married. You’re right, Perez Hilton,” she continued.
According to pageant director Keith Lewis, Prejean was fired on the grounds of failing to do her responsibilities as Miss California, by not appearing in pageant-related events. The 22-year old beauty queen was replaced by Miss Malibu Tami Farrell.
