2009 is definitely the year of “Twilight”. The vampire flick only captivated the hearts of millions of fans, thus it was able to conquer this years MTV Movie Awards.

“Twilight,” which tells the story of lovers Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen, garnered five out of six nominations at the said awards night. The film itself was proclaimed Best Movie, while stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson bagged golden popcorns for Best Fight, Best Kiss, Breakthrough Male Performance and Best Female Performance.

Kristen owes her trophy to all the fans. “The fans are the ultimate driving force,” she said in her speech. She however dropped the trophy by accident, resulting to a fallen popcorn.

Other winners of the “golden popcorn” include Miley Cyrus in the Best Song category for “The Climb,” which was taken from the “Hannah Montana: The Movie.” Zac Efron meanwhile took home the award for Best Male and co-star Ashley Tisdale won Breakthrough Female Performance in “High School Musican 3: Senior Year.”

Amy Poehler meanwhile is the first recipient of the “WTF Moment” award, a new category in the MTV Movie Awards. It was her scene urinating in the sink for the movie “Baby Mama” that made her deserving of the prize.

The late Heath Ledger was also given a posthumous award of Best Villain for his twisted role in Dark Knight.

Funny man Jim Carrey meanwhile got the Best Comedic Performance award for the movie “Yes Man.”

Finally, Ben Stiller was awarded with the MTV Generation Award, the event’s highest honor.
