Los Angeles, Calif.- America has voted, and the battle towards the “Idol” crown will be between Adam Lambert and… Kris Allen.

After 88 million votes cast on Tuesday, host Ryan Seacrest was finally able to reveal who will be competing for this season’s “Idol” title.

“I can now reveal, after the nationwide vote, the first person competing in next week’s finale is… Kris.” Ryan announced on Wednesday’s show. Both the judges and Kris himself were shocked and at the same time rocked with glee.

Then Ryan proceeded to Adam and Danny.

“The person competing with Kris Allen in the finale next week is… Adam Lambert.”

Danny, who had never fallen into the bottom group, sang a very emotional “You Are So Beautiful,” with Paula Abdul choking with tears.

“Look none of us would have predicted this, guys,” says Simon, as they panel was also surprised with the way the results came.

“Kris,” says Simon. “Your second song in particular made you a contender. You’re in with a real shot. Adam, you know we’ve always liked you. This could be, what we call, a big ding-dong coming up next week.”

That night’s “Idol” guest meanwhile Katy Perry, made it clear who she’s voting for in the finals. While singing her single “Waking Up in Vegas,” the singer prompted her satin cape with “Adam Lambert” written on it.
