Los Angeles, Calif.- American Idol Season 8 makes yet another history for the fight for this year’s crown will be among three men.
Allison Iraheta, the only rose among the thorns in the final four, was booted off on Wednesday night.
This is the first time in the show’s whole run that a female does not join the top three finalists.
The red-haired Iraheta lost her spot after rock night, where she sang her own rendition of Janis Joplin’s “Cry Baby.”
“As she leaves us with the top three… the boys club gets set for next week,” were the words host Ryan Seacrest used in announcing Iraheta’s ouster from the show.
The final three contenders, Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen will be going to their hometowns for next week’s episode, as part of the “Idol” tradition.
Aside from going back home, the boys will also follow another tradition, where they will sing two song numbers-one coming from the judges’ choice.
