Los Angeles, CA.- Hugh Jackman just made it to the top once again as his alter-ego, Wolverine.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine grossed at $87 million over the weekend, taking the lead into the box office. This success puts the X-men prequel next to its three previous movies wherein Jackman took on the role of Wolverine, the most popular X-men hero.

The franchise’s final chapter, “X-Men: The Last Stand,” had its opening premiere with $102.8 million, making it the top X-Men movie to hit the box office. “Wolverine” meanwhile came in second, followed by “X2: X-Men United” with $85 million, and “X-Men” with $54.5 million.

Coming in second is the romantic comedy “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner, which debuted at $15.3 million.
