Washington, D.C.- Singer David Cook’s older brother passed away on Saturday due to brain cancer, a disease he battled for almost 11 years.
Adam Cook, a lawyer, died at the age of 36.
David announced the news of his brother’s demise on Sunday morning while attending the 12th Annual Race for Hope 5K run/walk held in Washington, D.C. The charity event is dedicated to support the cure for brain cancer, and the singer served as its honorary chairman.
“I actually lost my brother yesterday to a brain tumor,” the former American Idol told a shocked crowd during the said event.
Adam can be remembered by a lot of “Idol” fanatics during his very emotional appearance when he watched younger brother David do a rendition of Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby” in front of the show’s audience. David eventually championed the competition, defeating competitor David Archuleta.
