The top 5 battled last night singing songs from the Rat Pack and the judges each have their favorites, but all of the contestants did pretty well. Jamie Foxx was this week’s mentor and he surprisingly offered reasonable tips. If you missed this week’s performance, here’s a quick recap with details of the surprising elimination night.

First up was Kris Allen, who’s becoming a judge favorite in recent weeks, sang “The Way You Look Tonight” and received nothing but praises from the judges. Allison Iraheta sang “Someone To Watch Over Me” and Simon Cowell was worried that her lack of confidence could lead to her elimination.

Matt Giraud chose a tough song – “My Funny Valentine.” Randy and Kara wasn’t too pleased about the arrangement, but Simon thought it was an excellent performance. Danny Gokey sang “Come Rain or Come Shine” and gave a not-so-boring-than-usual performance that even Simon said it was outstanding. Adam Lambert took the last performance by singing “Feeling Good” and received much love from all judges.

After 47 million votes, the bottom three came a shock to many as Matt Giraud, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert received the least votes. Yes, the same Adam Lambert who has captured the hearts of millions through his unique singing and captivating personality. At the end of the show, it was Matt Giraud who was voted off.
