
Hollywood veteran Beatrice Arthur, best known for her role as Dorothy Zbornak in “The Golden Girls”, died from cancer earlier today. She was 86.
According to family spokesperson Dan Watt, the actress died early today at her home in LA with her family by her side. No other details was given.
Although Arthur won the hearts of millions of people worldwide for her roles in “The Golden Girls” from 1985 to 1992 and again on “Mause” from 1972 to 1978, she began and ended her career on the stage.
Beatrice Arthur won a Tony Award as “Best Featured Actress” in the 1966 musical “Mame.” In 2002, she earned a Tony nomination for “Best Special Theatrical Event” for her New York solo show “Bea Arthur Broadway: Just Between Friends.”
Bea Arthur will be missed.
