Although many Twilight fans are eager to see “New Moon,” the second film of the Twilight Saga, most of them hated the book because of less Edward Cullen. Director Chris Weitz is well aware of this and did something pretty smart – he hired a bunch of HOT men to play the wolf pack. The first official image to promote ‘New Moon’ features the wolf pack.
The wolf pack, namely Alex Meraz (as Paul), Chaske Spencer (as Sam), Bronson Pelletier (as Jared) and Kiowa Gordon (as Embry) has won over Twilight fans with their six-packs. Apparently, Weitz had to order these wolves to attend “wolf camp” not only to buff up, but also to learn how to move, talk and work as a pack of wolves.
But it wasn’t just about acting skills and appearance that landed these actors their roles. Apparently, all of them had to prove their Native American heritage by providing papers. In the movie, which is to be released on Nov. 20, the wolf pack defends humans against vampires, but they have a tribal history with the Cullens.
According to Weitz, if the wolf pack isn’t filming their scenes, Meraz, Spencer , Pelletier and Gordon are doing push-ups, working out with barbells or chowing down on steak. “They went through wolf camp together, and they are in constant training. It paid off as a bonding thing for them and helped them to get to know one another. They drove each other to get more buff,” the New Moon director added.
If you think wolf camp is tough, imagine them acting half naked most of their scenes, regardless of weather. In the book, Stephenie Mayer wrote that all wolf-pack members have a body temperature of 108 degrees. Weitz said, “It’s not pleasant for the actors, but they have all been good-natured. They show up on location in drenching, cold rain, and I say, ‘OK, off with the robes.’ ”
But in a movie with as big as a following as the Twilight Saga, any actor, particularly those who are still building an acting portfolio, would dream to be part of the Twilight films. Just look at how HUGE Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson has become after Twilight.
