To those interested in getting some of the King of Pop’s memorabilia via the recently announced auction scheduled this mid-April, then here’s some bad news. The auction is cancelled.
According to auctioneer Darren Julien, the auction of Michael Jackson’s things was canceled last April 7, due to a lawsuit filed by the singer last month demanding for the return of some of the items on bid. A public exhibit of Jackson’s belongings was however opened in Beverly Hills last Tuesday, and the viewing will be held until April 25th.
“The auction is not going to take place”, says Julien. “We wanted to reach an agreement (with Jackson) and we have reached one that is mutually acceptable and beneficial.
All of the items which were supposed to be placed for bidding, including the crystal glove Jackson wore in his “Billie Jean” performances, will be given back to the singer after the exhibit.
Tohme R. Tohme, Jackson’s representative, meanwhile stated that the two parties (Jackson’s and Julien’s) are both pleased with the agreement. Jackson will then retain rights to own the “Collection of Michael Jackson”.
