Robyn Moore, Mel Gibson’s wife of 28 years, has just filed divorce papers before Good Friday. The couple was married in 1980, years before Gibson became a money-making machine.

Apparently, the couple didn’t sign any pre-nup, so Mel Gibson’s estimated $900 million fortune would be divided 50/50, according to the laws of California. That’s a sizable divorce payout, but Moore has seven kids with Mel Gibson and still has a minor child - the 10-year-old Thomas. Their other children include Hannah, 28, twins Edward and Christian, 26, William, 24, Louis, 21 and Milo, 19.

According to papers filed in LA Country Superior Court, Robyn Moore cited “irreconcilable differences” and seeks joint physical and legal custody of Tom, spousal support and attorneys fees. Mel Gibson has been rumored to be a womanizer for years. In fact, there were rumors in Hollywood that Gibson was womanizing on the night of his drunk driving arrest in Malibu back in 2006.

Last month, London’s Daily Mail published photos of Mel embracing a bikini-clad bombshell on the beach near his estate in Costa Rica. A report from Entertainment Tonight has said that Mel and Robyn has been living separately for almost 3 years. Robyn has remained low-profile for almost 20 years, choosing not to attend Hollywood events for most of their marriage. She has hired Laura Wasser, the lawyer who has worked with Angelina Jolie and Britney Spears on their divorce issues.

Moore joined Gibson in a joint statement asking to be left alone. The statement reads, “Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so.”
