Miley Cyrus’ film “Hannah Montana: The Movie” has surpassed Hollywood guesses and took home $34 million its first weekend, instead of the $20-million range the film was expected to make. Apparently, the Cyrus virus is still alive and has become more evident compared to her 2008 Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour, which only grossed $70 million worldwide.
Miley Cyrus’ Hannah Montana: The Movie debuted to an early lead at the weekend box office, bagging a whopping $17.4 mil on Friday. Miley’s new film is reportedly the best opening-day gross for a (live-action) G-rated movie ever.
With the looks of things, Miley’s dream of winning an Oscar may just be a possibility, since Cyrus clearly has a lot of moviegoer fans. In fact, Miley came close to winning an Oscar after co-writing the ‘Bolt’ song “I Thought I Lost You”, which was nominated for “best song” at the Critics Choice Awards and Golden Globes in early 2009.
Miley will be starring in a serious movie, “The Last Song.” According to ImDb, the film is “a drama centered on a rebellious young woman who is sent to spend the summer with her estranged father.” Cyrus has already won two Kids’ Choice Awards and two Teen Choice Awards for acting categories, aside from several awards she received for her singing.
