Billy Bob Thornton made headlines after his infamous interview on a Canadian public radio last Wednesday. First he called Canadian concertgoers as “mashed potatoes with no gravy,” then said Canadians were “very reserved” and ” “it doesn’t matter what you say to them.” However, the following night, Billy bob and his band ‘The Boxmasters’ performed in Toronto only to receive loud boos with some shouts saying “”Here comes the gravy!” With two more performances scheduled for Canada (Montreal & London), the Boxmasters suddenly backed out of the gig, saying members of the band have caught the flu.
Billy Bob’s publicist Arnold Robinson defended his client’s answers on the interview, saying, “He simply elected not to engage with the interviewer because of the direction of the interview from the outset.”
Robinson announced, “The Boxmasters’ final Canadian dates — in Montreal and London, Ontario — were canceled because one of the band members and several of the crew have the flu. The will rejoin Willie Nelson’s tour when it returns to the United States for a show in Stamford, Connecticut, on Tuesday, after they have a few days off to recuperate.”.
The Boxmasters was the opening act for Nelson until they were loudly booed in Toronto, a day after the actor-musician’s bizarre interview with a CBC radio host.
Do you buy the ‘flu story’ or do you think the band just couldn’t take the gravy?
