Fast & Furious led the weekend movies with a whopping $30.1 million at the box office Friday.

The 30.1 million ticket sales that Fast & Furious received was more than twice what industry veterans expected. For an April opening, Vin Diesel’s film drew close to the ‘best April opening film ever’ Anger Management that debuted with a $42.2 million.

Monsters vs. Aliens bagged $8.8 million, Watchmen reached about $25.1 million, ‘The Haunting Connecticut’ came 3rd at $3.7 million, ‘I Love you, Man’ and “Knowing” both took home $2.7 million, while the independent flick ‘Adventureland’ had $2.2 million.
