Andy Hallet, the actor famous for playing the role of demon Lorne in the TV series ‘Angel’, has died due to congestive heart disease. He was only 33.
Hallett has starred in more than 70 episodes of the show as demon Lorne, the green-skinned demon, between 2000 and 2004. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Hallet moved to LA at age 23 and worked as a messenger at a talent agency. After becoming an assistant to the wife of Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Andy Hallet was asked to audition after Whedon saw him sing Karaoke.
Hallet has been suffering from a heart condition for 5 years – he was diagnosed right after ‘Angel’ was cancelled in 2004, and has been in and out of the hospital since. Hallet decided to quit acting and concentrate on his own music.
He was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA after having problems breathing and died there on Sunday. A private funeral service will be held for family and close friends in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, this weekend.
