David Cook Cancels Two Shows to Deal with Family Matters

Last year’s American Idol champ David Cook has canceled two of his shows for his national university tour – one scheduled at the Colby Sawyer College in New London (Monday) and the other at the Connecticut University in New Haven (Tuesday).

Earlier this week, Cook posted an update on his website saying, “We are canceling [Monday’s] and Tuesday’s shows to allow David time to deal with personal family matters. Please respect his privacy at this time. David would like everyone to rest assured that we are working with the universities to reschedule the shows that are missed.”

Apparently, David has to be with his family. Hi’s older brother Adam has been fighting brain cancer for over 10 years and Cook’s rep has confirmed that the brothers spent time together last week.

Several weeks ago, the 26-year-old crooner taped a performance of his new single, “Come Back to Me,” to air on tonight’s results show of American Idol. The guitar he used was adorned with his brother’s initials.
