Zac Efron Drops ‘Footloose’ Remake

Zac Efron dropped his role on the remake of “Footloose.” Why? The “High School Musical” star has decided not to be part of Paramount’s modern version of the 1980s hit.

In the last couples of years, Efron has made roles on his High School Musical films and “Hairspray” a hit, with him singing and dancing. He even performed at the latest Oscars with girl friend Vanessa Hudgens. Now, it seems that Zac Efron is tired of singing and dancing, so he rather say goodbye to musicals now.

A conveniently-timed rewrite in the script gave the loophole Efron needed to escape the contract.

Paramount Pictures made a statement, which reads: “Footloose is a project we’ve longed to see rebooted for a new generation. While Zac in no longer attached, we remain excited and committed to the collective brain trust of [HSM turned Footloose director] Kenny Ortega, Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, who will reinvigorate the franchise. Their fresh take on the film will undoubtedly be filled with the same kind of breakout performances that we’ve come to expect from them.”

Of course, the production still were still shocked by the decision since they have been working on the project since July.

Can this be because Efron will no longer be a part of the 4th High School Musical film and he’s hoping to take on work with more ‘acting’ than singing and dancing?

Apparently, Zac Efron isn’t worried. He’s out in Paris, France earlier today. Check out his pictures below…
