Rapper Kanye West has been charged Wednesday with battery, theft and vandalism in connection with a September 11, 2008 issue wherein he allegedly wrested with a paparazzi at the LA International Airport and smashed a camera into the ground.

The L.A. District Attorney’s Office has accused the 31-year-old West of smashing camera equipment in the scuffle. Kanye will face up to 2 to 5 years in prison if convicted on all the misdemeanor charges.

West was arrested after the incident, but was released on bail the same day. He is expected to appear in court on April 14.

West’s manager, Don Crawley was also charged with two counts each of vandalism, grand theft and battery for his alleged involvement in the incident. He faces up to five years behind bars if convicted.
