Now that her sister Britney Spears has officially made a comeback with her Circus tour, Jamie Lynn Spears is looking to make her own comeback as well – but it’s not just on TV. The younger Spears is planning to follow the footsteps of Jessica Simpson and go country.
Apparently, Jamie Lynn is hoping that she’ll become the next Nashville star. After taking a leave from her Hollywood career to raise her daughter Maddie in Mississippi, the 17-year-old Spears “has been quietly working on a country album since last fall,” Eonline reports.
Although Jamie Lynn’s only musical credit to date is the theme song to her Nickelodeon series, Zoey 101 (a tune co-written by Britney), that hasn’t stopped her family and friends from “trying to get Jamie Lynn a record deal,” says an insider.
The 17-year-old Spears recently recorded demo tracks in Nashville but has yet to land a label. In 2002, before getting knocked up, Jamie Lynn said in a press conference, “I’ll probably do a lot of acting first, then go to singing,, but I am going to definitely sing someday. So when I do start singing, buy my album!”
