The 21-year-old Zac Efron and 20-year-old Vanessa Hudgens are included in Disney’s new ad campaign wherein they portray Prince Charming and Sleeping Beauty.But is the couple making this fantasy real by tying the knot?
Photographed by Annie Leibovitz in December, the High School Musical stars recreated the scene from Sleeping Beauty wherein the princess is awakened by the kiss of her prince. The shot, titled “Where Romance Is Celebrated,” will run as part of Disney’s “What Will You Celebrate?” ad campaign.
In real life, however, their fairy tale romance may just end in marriage a bit early than expected. There are rumors going on that the couple is planning an intimate wedding ceremony in September.
The couple, who met on the set of the first High School Musical film in 2006, has been living together in LA. Efron reportedly proposed during a trip to Japan because Vanessa’s mother did not approve of them living together without any kind of wedding promise.Although Hudgens’ mom considers Zac as family, she’s apparently old school and wants Zac to make an honest woman of her daughter before the engagement.
A source close to the couple said, “The proposal was something Zac had been thinking about for a while. They are both really excited about the wedding; it will be a star-studded day. They fell in love with Hawaii while there for a friend’s wedding. And Vanessa wants to get married on a beach so it’s perfect.”
According to the source, the couple is already checking out tropical venues and is favoring Hawaii over other hot spots.
“Zac is over the moon Vanessa said ‘yes’. They are both young but they know it’s the real thing,” the source added.
