The photo, posted by TMZ under the headline, “Rihanna - The Face of a Battered Woman” shows a woman with her eyes closed, cuts around her face, a fat lip and bruising to her forehead.
A statement by LAPD reads: “The Los Angeles Police Department takes seriously its duty to maintain the confidentiality of victims of domestic violence. A violation of this type is considered serious misconduct, with penalties up to and including termination.”
Apparently, the photo from TMZ appeared to be one of the shots taken during an official domoestic violence investigation. The LAPD posted a statement encouraging anyone to provide details how the picture got out and contact the department.
