Dakota Fanning is almost officially a part of the Twilight sequel, New Moon.
While promoting her movie Coraline Friday, the 14-year-old Dakota Fanning said, “It’s not 100 percent yet set in stone but it’s definitely not totally untrue or a rumor. It’s definitely a possibility and I think it would be really, really fun to be a part of.”
According to previous reports, Fanning has been asked to join the stars of the Twilight film, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and the rest of the vampire cast. She is set to play the petite, yet powerful vampire Jane, who is able to inflict pain on the movie.
Dakota said of her possible role, “I think just playing an evil vampire is really cool. If I got to do [New Moon], that’d probably be the most fun part. I’m a big fan of the cast. To join it would be a really great honor and I really hope that it works out,” she says.
However, Dakota admitted that she hasn’t even read the book yet and is only halfway done reading the first book of the Twilight series.
When told that the fans of Twilight reacted negatively to rumors about Vanessa Hudgens joining the cast, while reactions to her being cast as Jane were much more positive, Dakota says, “That’s really nice. It makes me feel good. I know that ‘Twilight’ is so sacred to some people I know that when people cast certain people, people have their opinions and that’s their right. And it’s very flattering that they think I’d be right for the part, and I hope it works out.”
