Lillo Brancato Jr., an actor who had a role in ‘The Sopranos’ and ‘A Bronx Tale’ along Robert De Niro, was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison for participating in an attempted burglary, wherein an off-duty police officer was killed.

Brancato was convicted of attempted burglary back in 2005, but acquitted of felony murder. The actor’s lawyers argued that Brancato was high on drugs during the incident and he was trying to enter a friend’s home who used to provide him with drugs before. Unfortunately, officer Daniel Enchautegui who lived next door checked his neighbor’s house when he heard breaking glass. The officer died with a bullet to the heart. Brancato’s friend, Steven Armento, was sentenced to life in prison for murdering the officer.
