New Moon Expected to be Bigger for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart

Although Twilight started as a low-budget film with a cult following, it became pop culture when fans all over the world can’t get enough of the mysterious vampire Edward Cullen and his love for a mortal (played by Kristen Stewart). While Twilight continues to rake big bucks at the box office, reports are swirling that drama can’t be avoided behind the scenes for the sequel New Moon, which is set to start filming in March.

According to reports, both Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson will have bigger roles in the sequel, even though Jacob Black was supposed to become the leading man in Stephanie Meyer’s best-selling book, ‘New Moon’. With new director Chris Weitz replacing Twilight director Catherine Harwicke and reports that other characters in the Twilight movie will be replaced, tension will definitely rise once shooting for New Moon begins.

Of course, Robert Pattinson will be in the sequel – a lot. This is an obvious choice as fans of the Twilight series just can’t get enough of the 22-year-old actor. According to an insider, “They want to find a way to give Robert a bigger role than the book calls for without making major changes to the story line. They’re going to have their hands full.”

What do you think? Do you prefer the story of New Moon to stay exactly the same as the book? Or would you prefer to see more of Robert Pattinson playing Edward Cullen?

Twilight got a lot of notice on its own, but it was Rob Pattinson as Edward that sent it through the stratosphere. New Moon was my least favorite of the books — for the sole reason that it had less of Edward in it. I think it would be a smart move to make his role more prominent in the sequel. In Twilight, they had to cut a lot to fit it into 2 hours. If nothing else, they could keep everything with Edward in the beginning and end and make the cuts in the middle where he is gone. Most people I know felt that the middle part with Jacob dragged on for too long, and were anxious for Edward to come back into the picture.

  2. to be fair to rpatz who expressed his desire for the book to stay as close to the original as possible – he has a point. the development of the relationship between bella and jacob is important for the flow of the story and the understanding of the bonds that eventually form between bella, jacob and edward. having more of robert in the movie would be gr8 and perhaps a way to do this is to actually include footage of him as he attempts to track victoria as per his sharing with bella when he returns after he has left bella, along with his personal struggles at the seperation.

Everybody knows the success of the trilogy stands in their appearances.

  4. Stef says:

I think that they could incorporate him into the movie in the parts where Bella hears his voice when she’s doing dangerous things….because she is also picturing his expressions. The could maybe like have an image of him speaking and expressing, but a faded kind of image…..like a mirage kind of. That would allow the fans to see more of him, while at the same time keeping the story intact.

Well, there have been reports or rumors saying that there’d be new castings for edward and I think that would be a ridiculous thing to do. For I think robert pattinson played the role of edward far too well. He really seem like HE was really edward and it would just suck if new people were to take over the ones already in twilight and that includs other actors and actresses in thew movie. But beside that point, i’d love it if new moon had more edward in it. When I was reading new moon, I easily became irritated on how very little there was of edward. I do understand the main focus was on bella’s and jacob’s relationship, it still irked me to no end. And I respect the thought of keeping it cclosely related to the book, but i’d enjoy it a lot more if edward had a bigger role. In the end, i’d ery much like it if the cast stay the same as they were and more edward in new moon please.

  6. Nicole says:

The movie needs to stay true to the book but I agree with some of the above entries. You can show him tracking Victoria and absolutely showing him being mad a Bella for doing dangerous things. That is a very important part. Show him when Rosalie tells him that Bella is dead. Even though he is not in a large part of the book his presence is still an important part. He absolutely has to leave Forks like he does in the book, having him stay, just to keep him in the movie more would completely ruin the story line, which the development of the relationship with Bella and Jacob. The new director said that would maintain the integrity of the story line of the book – for the sake of the millions of fans I hope he is telling the truth!!

this is such bull!!!!!!! why would they even consider changing the story?! i am DEFF. 100% TEAM EDWARD, but the second book..him leaving in the beginging made that book so much better the suspence and everything if he didnt leave that early it wouldnt have the same effect when alice comes for bella…and jacob and bella’s relationship really grows in this book therefore changing the book with change EVERYTHING!

  8. electra says:

I really would love to see more of edwards point of view in New moon because there will be a book called midnight sun. It would be great to see edwards own personal struggle regarding his decision to leave bella. This way we can have more rpat and still be true to the books.

  9. Katherine says:

If Edwards role is not broadened in the movie more than it was in the book, I for one won’t be attending.

  10. Jennifer says:

I want to see more Robert in New Moon. I liked the book, but it was not a favorite because Edward was gone for the majority of the book. I want Robert to have a bigger role in the movie. If not I feel that majority of the fans will be dissappointed.

  11. Chasity says:

New Moon was my least favorite book. I didn’t like the fact that they put jacob black and bella togeather. I almost stopped reading the book after Edward left. I went to see Twilight in theatre at least 10 times; mainly because of Robert Pattinson which I think alot of people did as well. So New Moon BETTER have a bigger role for edward cullen than the book. I don’t know what stephanie was thinking about when she wrote New Moon…not much Edward. In my opinion he is the books not bella. I just hope that is role is Bigger than in the book. I am looking forward to Eclipse. Breaking Dawn is my favoritel I can’t wait til it becomes a movie. Awl..their wedding…first night togeather,,honeymoon…baby…bella vampire…the vouitri fight..all the vampire friends of Carlise!!! Can’t Wait!!!!!:)PLEASE GIVE ROBERT PATTINSON A BIGGER ROLE IN NEW MOON!!!!

  12. soty zerva says:

without edward the movie new moon will drag just as the book did as I rushed through it to get to the chapter where edward returns. noone wants to sit through a movie just waiting for the end to come!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Anne says:

I have read the 4 Twilight books now probably at least four times each. New Moon was my least favorite of the books — for the sole reason that it had less of Edward in it. The middle section really dragged for me. I like Jacob but his realationship with Bella doesn’t have the same pull for me as does that with Edward. I love the effect that Stephenie gives of the pages with only the months on them. They will have to keep some of it there so that we can understand how conflicted Bella is. Her relationship with Jacob is one side of her character – she is her true age when she is with him – with all the contradictions and confusion that goes with it. Her relationship with Edward is more timeless but I think that we need to see the torture that she goes through without Edward so that the depth of the relationship is demonstrated. I do hope that if any part of the book has to be shortened it will be the middle part.

  15. Ivana says:

Of course, a lot of sceens with Edward.
Greetings Twilight fans from Croatia, Europe

  16. Debra Blackwell says:

Well, I hope the powers to be realize that bigger is not better.Catherine ardwick is the one who gave an incredible interpretation of Stephanie Meyers book Twilight. Giving Rob Patterson a bigger role would not be doing that. It is the story that is important not the actor. Stephanie’s books have sold themselves. Why risk changing that?

  17. Adrianna says:

I think that they should make the sequel exactly like the book. I’m sure it will still be a box office hit with Jacob in it for most of the movie. But if they change the movie, just to put edward in it more, it will ruin the whole purpose of the book. I mean seriously. It’s not like you’ll die without him for the middle of a movie. Or just show little parts of what edward is doing. Don’t change the way a movie is just because fans thrive for EDWARD EDWARD EDWARD. Give it a break, others don’t want a movie to be based on one character throughout. It all depends on similarity to the book. Like twilight, it was too off from the book. It was a good movie though, i give it that. It’s just there was so much left out, it had me thriving for more. But it had varieties of characters, that was what i liked. I don’t know about you, but i love edward, it’s just, i don’t want to stare at him on the big screen for 2 hours. It’s worthless. I’d rather pay and get what i asked for. A visual of the book.

  18. Adrianna says:

Also, i believe that the purpose of this movie is to get Jacobs side of what his abilities are, if you have so much edward, you’ll miss out on jacob, and if you miss out on jacob, you’ll miss the whole plotline, especially for people who have never read the books, it’ll make them lose a lot of important parts. that’s another reason to stick to the main purpose. Jacob is supposed to be the lead role in this book, not Edward. Edward will get his big role in the next two, so just sit back and enjoy what you have now. Instead of beg for more edward. Make your own movies of edward, cause the rest of us aren’t THAT interested in Edward, but we do LOVE him, just not going to watch him for two hours. we need change. Variety. before you people go off on me, think about it.

  19. ann says:

I think they should stay to the book as much as posible.
That way the rest of the movies will make moore scents.

  21. JMac says:

I saw the movie before I read any of the books. I fell in love with Edward Cullen as soon as he appeared on the big screen. Now that I’ve read all 4 books, “New Moon” is not my favorite just for the simple fact that Edward was gone for so long and left Bella with a broken heart that touched me deeply. For me to feel excited about the upcoming movie, I’d like to know that Edward will have a big role where his absence will be missed by so many. I think a way to do this will be to show footages of him when Bella “hears” him or show him during his “tracking” adventures so we can get a feel for what he was going through while he was apart from Bella. That’s my 2cents.

  23. chryssa says:

i think that they should stick to the book… okay… maybe they could describe the chapters without Edward shorter i mean in a 2 hour movie they could have Edward play 1 hour and Jacob another 1… it will be stupid if they will change the script…

  24. Camryns76 says:

Of the four in the series New Moon was my least favorite because there was less of Edward. However, I’d rather they stick to the book more. If they want to show him more, they could show him talking to Bella those times she hears his voice. Or even show some of him when he’s in Europe. Even better they could focus more on the beginning and end of the book and chop some of the middle out. I liked Jacob’s character okay but loved Edward’s and Bella’s relationship much much more.

  25. Trudie says:

I love the books, all of them and I found New Moon heartbreaking with the leaving of Edward, but I have absolutely no problem with changing things to give more screen time to Edward. There are all sorts of ways this could be done without losing the theme of the book – I think this would make the film even more exciting and something different to look forward to. As long as Stephanie Meyer is happy with how this is done I can only see this as a great move.

to be honest i liked new moon the least koz it didnt have much of edward in it but seriously you shouldnt change the frkn story line because you want more of edward in it like come on people! just leave the story line as it is. the book was a bestseller without much of edward in it so im sure the movie will be even bigger so please do not change the storyline just to fit more of edward. you could like show scenes when the cullens are not it forks then just go back you know? but yeah.. go jacob!

  29. Nikki says:

I love the entire Twilight Series, but I was anxious the entire time reading New Moon because I knew the Cullens were coming back at some point. I’m pretty certain New Moon will be a great movie though. I agree that Edward’s character should be adapted into the film more (Bella recalling his voice, his tracking of Victoria, etc. There’s several ways that the director or screenplay writer could do this and keep the gist of the book intact.

  30. arianne perez says:

    we love them

  31. catmitch82 says:

I think that if you change the story by adding Edward into more of the scenes, it ruins the whole Bella falling in love with Jacob because Edward is gone thing. I don’t think that trying to add Edward in more will make that big a difference. Jacob has his own following too. Don’t get me wrong…I absolutely LOVE Robert Pattinson as Edward but if you are going to do the movies, do them right!!!

  32. Amy says:

I think that adding a litle more of Edward in the sequel new moon would be great. As long as they show the struggle Bella goes through and how Jacob patchs her up a little. But to be honest, I agree with some of the comments before me, the second book was my least favorite and it irritate me to no end. I have read those books more than five times at least.

  33. Korey says:

Ok, dont get me wrong..they picked the perfect actor for Edward but just because we love seeing how hot he is doesnt mean things should change for our selfish selves. The books sold plenty on their own without Stephanie having to change things around for us to like it better. The books are great and deserve to be made into movies but only as they were written. It doesnt matter what the directors want or fans want when it comes to seeing the most popular actors more and more..its completely slaughtering the book and doesnt tell the story exactly how its supposed to be. I say make the movie the way its supposed to be made. Its the only RIGHT way to do things.

  34. lauren says:

i think they should try keep the movie as close as possible to the book.
i couldnt care less if robert wasnt in this one as much (even though he’s smokin’ ;P) because this book/movie is supposed to be about bella and jacobs friendship blossoming!
i hope they dont change it TOO much!
    x lauren

  35. jaime says:

That sux. But u know what movies never do the books any justice. Ever since new moon I was rooting for jacob. I didn’t get my way. But movies are movies and books are books. Its always based on the story..we knew it would happen.

  36. trish says:

i really hope that there is more edward in the movie! calm down guys i doubt chris will change the story line he will probably show him hunting victoria or coping with leaving bella. so sit back relax and enjoy new moon!
