Johnny Depp, Mortified of Being a Celebrity

It doesn’t come as a shock that Johnny Depp admits he is mortified of being a celebrity. The award-winning actor has been open about maintaining a low profile, normal life in Europe. However, with such amazing talent and continuous movies being offered to Depp, staying out of the limelight can be a problem.

Although Depp admitted that he is a family man and is in control raising his kids, he revealed that the concept of being a celebrity still mortifies him. In the January issue of Britain’s Psychologies Magazine, Depp talks candidly about his love for his family, his feeling towards being a celebrity and his favorite movie role of all time.

Depp responded when asked about longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis by saying “It wasn’t until then that things started to get real for me. We just have a miraculous understanding of each other. [She gave me] proper perspective and understanding.”

Unlike other celebrities, Johnny Depp’s kids Lily-Rose and Jack are just growing up as normal kids. Depp shared that he is “totally inspired” by his kids and “could sit there all day and do nothing but watch them grow.”

When asked how it feels to be a celebrity, Depp said he “never wanted to be the guy people looked at”. He added saying, “I don’t think of myself as being a celebrity, it’s too mortifying.” However, Depp excitedly revealed his favorite role saying, “I was a million percent in love with ‘Edward Scissorhands.’ I remember looking in the mirror on the last day of shooting … and thinking how sad I was to be saying goodbye to Edward.”

Well, Depp will be seen as the Mad Hatter in a new Tim Burton movie to be released early 2010, so you’ll see more of Depp’s Edward Scissorhands look. Check out the many faces of Johnny Depp with a preview of his role as the Mad Hatter below…
